26/11 and me
Last year on this very day the whole nation stood still. As if the incident affected everyone in some way or the other. Unlike election results and the Indian cricket team usual tight spots, this ordeal was horribly scary and important. In 1942 wen bhagat singh and his comrades were hanged, the nation had stood still. In the present times 26/11 was an equal shocker. Mumbai is the dearest city of the country. The terrorists had hurt the sentiments of every single Indian by going on a rampage there. Hence the whole nation stood in silence and helplessly watched as the not so lucky ones only hoped to see the next morning.
I was in the hostel in the same evening and don’t very prominently remember whether I was informed bout the incident by someone or did I find out myself wen I turned on the television to catch the evening news at primetime. I was in Greated Noida, almost 2000kms away frm Mumbai but I felt the pang….i felt hurt….”Oh shit” was my response.
Saw a program on the same today in the morning......on History channel......a particular footage struck me......in it the media personnel and some police officials in plain clothes were clearing the way for an approaching police vehicle....as the vehicle approached......the camera crew closed in......and suddenly there was a shower of bullets...the vehicle had Ajmal kasab ...his counterpart and a wounded constable still alive...which the terror lords did not know of.....within seconds...the plain clothed police official was dead.....and the camera crew horrified....... such a short difference between....life and death......
i'm sure the incident brought the nation and various religions closer.......
it has had an impact on me.......
hope you felt the same.....

What 'really' pains me is the inability of our country's government to convey the hurt the way we all felt it, to our indifferent neighbour.
ReplyDeletePakistan still walks around with its head held up high. How can they? The buggers planned the operation on their soil, dared to send a bunch of brainwashed boys (with surprisingly good commando training) all the way to Mumbai!
And what does our govt. do? Let Pakistan off with a wussy warning? Waiting for them to take action?
It's not the coastguard or Mumbai police officials who let us down. It's our government.
Bunch of cowards.
